Mission Statement

      The mission of the center is to assist in providing an environment that supports individuals with disabilities in attaining self-sufficiency with the right to choose the individual's personal degree of independence. This includes, but is not limited to, the following activities:

1.    Obtaining supportive data for the purpose of expanding the range of independent living options available to individuals with disabilities and educating all citizens with respect to these options.
2.    Educating service and housing providers, public officials, and the public on the needs of individuals with disabilities.
3.    Administering programs to assist individuals with disabilities in seeking and obtaining a self-sufficient and independent lifestyle.
4.    Identifying unmet needs for programs and services as expressed by individuals with disabilities and working cooperatively with disabled individuals and other organizations and agencies to meet these needs.
5.    Educating and advising individuals with disabilities on the importance of actively participating in the legislative process concerning statutory and constitutional rights and how to exercise those rights.
6.    With a minimal reliance on other persons, performing all other functions that enhance the ability of individuals with disabilities to participate more fully in life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
